Art Standards
  • Student will demonstrate grade level concepts (Elements of Art, , Principles of Design, Genre of Art, and/or skills (Craftsmanship)

  • Student will understand the principles of Geometry as applied to art

  • Student will be safe, productive, respectful and responsible. 

Expectations
Be Prepared: Come with iPad charged and with other materials needed for the project.
Be Respectful: Use respectful language, tone, facial expressions and body language when interacting with others.
Be on Task: Focus and do not let others distract you while you work.
Respect the Art Supplies: Use the art materials correctly, appropriately and carefully. Clean up after yourself.

 

Persevere: When you make a mistake, keep going! When something is challenging, don’t give up!

Projects
Eighth grade artists are currently working on a Career Self-Portrait. Students were introduced to the history of portraiture and self-portraits with a Nearpod presentation. We even played a "Would You Rather" game deciding what careers we'd rather be: Panda Nanny, Luxury Bed Tester, Professional Zombie, Waterslide Tester etc. Eight grade students took a career test to see which career would fit their personality/interests the best. Students will choose their desired future career and will draw images that relate to their career choice in the background. Students will draw their self-portrait on a transparency paper and will lay on top of their background. This project has helped us all get to know each other's hobbies and interests much better and has led to some amazing discussions!
